twas brillig, and the Calennig did rise

For the New Year, a traditional Welsh gift – the Calennig, a skewered decorated apple that fills a room with the smell of apple and cloves, and rises up on twig legs with sprigs for antlers like a rural fruit Hellraiser, on the borderlands of fairytales and folk horror.
